Mike Hayton has over 25 years of experience in preparing medical reports and has been a Consultant Orthopaedic Hand and Wrist surgeon at Wrightington Hospital for over 20 years.

His clinical practice, spanning more than 20 years, has been exclusively focused on hand and wrist problems; therefore, he only prepares medical reports in these areas.

He reports on personal injuries and receives instructions from both the Defendant's and the Claimant's solicitors.

Mike still receives instructions through some agencies or directly to his practice.

At present, he does not have the capacity for Work Related Upper Limb Disorders nor Clinical Negligence reports.

Waiting time

  • Typically, 10-12 weeks, although urgent cases can be considered on request.                     

Turnaround time

  • The report is usually returned within 10 working days. 

Hourly rate

  • £440 per hour +VAT.
  • A typical personal injury report will usually require 3-4 hours' work (£1,320-£ 1,760 + VAT).

Payment terms

  • The initial report will require payment prior to the report being sent.
  • An estimate of the expected hours required will be provided upon receipt of a case summary, and any excess will be refunded or held on account.
  • A typical personal injury report will usually require 3-4 hours' work (£1,320-£ 1,760 + VAT).
  • Additional work would be payable 60 days after the work is submitted.

Court Appearances

Court appearance is based on Mike's hourly rate of £440 +VAT per hour, based on an 8-hour day.

Pre trial preparation fees are additional.

The fee for cancellation of an agreed Court date(s) tapers inside a 6 week notice and reflects the difficulty in rearranging short-notice private and NHS slots.

The cancellation fees as we approach a court date :

  • cancel  > 6 weeks no fee
  • cancel between 6 and 4 weeks 50% fees due
  • cancel within 4 weeks 100% fees due
